“Always remember you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think”
I kept staring those words written on the canvas hung on my wall. This quote had always been strangely so impactful to me. It took me back to an incident that had happened in 2016, when my flight had crash landed. That day completely changed my life. When most of the passengers were running around grabbing their luggage and heading out to the emergency exit, I distinctly remember a question that popped up in my head.
If I were to leave this world today, what would I be remembered for? Such a simple question, but yet a powerful one.
Fortunately, God gave me one more chance to really prove myself. Four years later, 2020 happens, and everyone finds themselves locked in their homes. This year really gave a pause to all my hectic schedules, and gifted me time to finding myself. I remember thinking to myself, yes! this is the time to really discover who I am.
That is when I stumble upon newspaper articles on many youth protesting on the streets around the world to fight climate change. Many were even leaving their schools to represent their support for this cause. I started my research to check on the facts, to be very honest I had the shock of my life. The facts screamed the vulnerability of our planet, though it was not very visible to the common man’s eye. Today, I have started my own blog- BLUE BAY BLOGS. Sharing more about what I know and spreading awareness is very important especially when it comes to a problem as huge as the climate crisis. I also joined Youngo – an organization of passionate young individuals who spread awareness on climate change.
Today, I ask myself the same question I asked 4 years ago, and I can proudly look back and say that I’ve come a long way but there is still more work to do.
