Life is usually stress free for us children at the early stages of schooling, but as we grow the pressure of achieving good grades stresses us out. And of course the pressure of doing homework and submission time/deadline. We take them lightly and so overcome them. It is later we realize that we need to get used to the feeling of stress for the rest of our lives. The drama unfolds during the initial process as you experience not only your own stress but also your parents’ and your peers, more so when they get offers earlier then you do. Your parents start believing you did something wrong due to which you didn’t get offers faster. Then the press really builds up of contacting the university to get an offer when it is delayed by a few days. The drama continues as you try to fulfill requirements of the application to be considered but still it is not enough as it is denied and you wonder why. Then you must do everything all over again, meaning more stress.
The stress never stops and our parents or adults in general feel you don’t have stress at all but, actually we stress even more than they do. Only they are clueless about it. There is relief but it dies down once we start university. The stress remains during the first year, adjustments of a new environment, living, studying, time management etc you get the drill. But there is fun to of making new friends, having free time to learn new things and experiences for us. Stress and fun increases while later years so does coursework and our knowledge. Even though it has its negatives sit also has its positives to it. It helps us become independent and explore new things on our own.
This age is an age to discover ourselves plus our strengths and weaknesses. It feels comfortable to be there at uni, you get into rhythm and routine, perhaps even enjoy all the hard work and unbelievably start enjoying your studies. You realize that this is the place that prepares us for a better future.
