2020 has been a hard year for me, because of lockdown, having to stay home and doing online learning, but also a lot of great things happened such as: I got to travel to one of my favorite places (Goa) in the winter, this is my favorite place because I have so much fun playing with my friends, and we had lots of barbeques where I tried different kinds of yummy food.
I got to experience a new sort of life in lockdown. It was different, not being able to play outside and I am used to doing that. I missed being outdoors, being in school and not meeting my friends.
For my birthday even though I was in lockdown I got to see so many of my family members on Zoom and we celebrated together online.
Change is not easy, but once you get used to it, it’s fine. For Christmas in Goa, I got something I wanted, a video game – Just Cause 3. When Covid started, I decided I would grow my hair super long, and it worked out! I now have beautiful long hair.
But there are some negatives: 2020 was a hard year for my family especially for my grandpa because I lost my grandma because of Covid! My grandpa had to come over to Dubai so that we could comfort him, but it’s better now, he looks happy and we chat with him on the phone often.
Also, many thousands of lives were lost because of Covid, but still, many people managed to fight and beat Covid. I did not like having to wear a stuffy mask. When I wear the mask, it is hard to breathe and always fogs up my glasses it is really annoying but we have to wear it to be safe.
Overall, 2020 was fun, and I am looking forward to 2021 and the great things that I will enjoy in the future, such as getting a dog, because I have always wanted one, going into a new class in school, and having play dates with many of my friends!

Wonderful piece Isa! I think we adults often forget how difficult this lockdown is especially on you guys. It’s however always important to make the best out of a crazy once in a lifetime pandemic , and stay optimistic . You have thankfully done both and are wiser for it. Take care and looking forward to seeing you all soon so we can do some more BBQs.
Well done Isa! Lovely to read your thoughts.
I love you Isa and am blessed to be your mom. Thank you for sharing your 2020 experience and I hope you continue to discover the world through a lens of empathy, love and kindness.
