93: Hope Shapes The Future.

March 2020, marked the start of a year of change in my life. Just like the rest of the twelfth graders I was looking forward to enjoying my holidays after my final exams. But in the blink of an eye the world tipped it’s balance and fell into chaos. My dreams of a good summer faded away. My priorities changed to the sense of survival.

I feared that I wouldn’t be able to cope with the new normal. But now looking back I am surprised by the way I found happiness in doing the little things I never thought of as a form of enjoyment. I found new hobbies and interests, the one that surprised me the most was my new found interest in baking.

As a person who spend 13 years of her life in the same school, I had grown to think of school as my second home and I missed every bit of my normal school life. I was left with just the sweet memories I had collected over the years. I had to move on.

I joined college through an online interview, got my ID card through the online portal, and started my next big venture through online classes. The word ‘online’ started to annoy me. To date I haven’t been able to see any of my classmates in person. Although the online classes seemed uninteresting, I did save a lot of time that I would have spend traveling back and forth from college.

Through all these changes and new discoveries, my family was there right beside me, supporting me in every new step I took. Though me and my friends had taken different paths in life, they always made it a point to keep in touch and to support me in times of need. I am always grateful to God for these wonderful people in my life.

Now looking at my life, I’m surprised and glad to know that though many things changed I have adapted to this new lifestyle and have learnt to find happiness in all the little things in life. As it is said, “You were given this life because you are strong enough to live it”.
